To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
For video media, you have 2 options. Video Station and Plex. There is a now new codex (x265 and DTS for audio) that is popular. Video Station does not play it and suggests you download software to convert these files to using a different/lesser format that Video Station will play, which is a pain in the ass.
Plex will play it, but not for free.
Other Video player options that appear to be available in other, perhaps older Synology devices (Emby & Jellyfin) are not available to be downloaded and used on this device.
If this is important to you and you have some technical skill (or are willing to learn), you are better off buying a tower with slots for 4 hard drives and installing FreeNas on it. You will get a much better machine (with way more than 1 GB of Ram) and more choices for software.
