I needed to replace the bulb on my magnifying lamp on the spring loaded arms. What a chore but I'll give you some tips so you don't repeat my mistakes. I took me 20 mins to find where the first screw fell using a black light to make a point. First off unplug the lamp! Then tip the lamp so bulb is facing up on 180 degrees. Slowly remove small front plate screws and grab them before they fall. Once all the screws are out you need to remove the clips holding the bulb in place. Same thing, when screws are out lift clip and screw out. use a flat lid or something to hold the parts. When clips are off you can lift the bulb and replace it with new bulb. If lens should come out of lamp the will be a plastic ring that goes back in before the lens does. Don't over tighten the clip screws, just firm enough to hold. Replace the cover and plug back in.
These lights function perfectly. I purchased this 8-inch and the 12-inch. Do not hesitate to buy just because the name is not well-known. I hesitated at first and chose to support my local hardware store and bought GE bulbs. Well, those took a few minutes to get to full brightness and DIED by week's end. Lesson learned... ALWAYS save the packaging and receipt for a month. As soon as they burned-out I got on my Amazon app and ordered this Sunlite brand. They arrived next day and functioned flawlessly since day one. Bravo to the up and coming company!
So it's a light bulb. It plugs in and turns on & off again just like it ought to. It has a decent white brightness so I'm confident it will be bright enough for my magnifier for tiny craft projects. The thing is though, it was packaged in a thin cardboard box & shipped in a bigger box along with some heavy-duty steel gate hardware that was just clunking around in a plastic baggie in there. We did not expect this bulb to actually still be in one piece or to work at all from that. But it did! And that's worth the review. Bulb packaging should be 5 stars but shipping it with steel parts like that made me drop it to 4.
My fault for not checking the color when I ordered. There's "warm white", "soft white", "cool white", "daylight", and then there's this bulb. 6500K, so much blue that with my orange lamp shade the light looked green. If that's what you want, it's a good bulb.
Ok so we all went out bought a light and installed it only to find out sometime later it has this odd lightbulb. Well here u are looking at what you need and guess what. Its simple to install. Fits as it should and light is great.
At first I thought this was great but after getting it it ended up being to small than advertised. Also the prong area was very loose fitting compared to the light I was replacing. I thought it was broken. I am happy with how bright the light is. Very bright, and the color temp is cool. Not a fan of the warm lights.
