It is always difficult wrapping up a series, especially one as long as The Kingmakers’ War. There is a very real possibility that the ending falls flat, or plot points don’t pay off, etc. but I am happy to report that A spark of Light delivers in spades. Not going to say much about the plot, because it is something that needs to be experienced first hand, due to a few bait and switches pulled. Although, I will admit that Jehn redeems himself by the end of the novel.
It is disappointing to think I may not be able to journey through this vast and rich world that Kate Avery Ellison has crafted again. But I live in hope that she decides to venture once more into this magical land one day.
This wrapped up the entire series well enough, although there were so many characters covered, some of them were touched on quite lightly. Personally I hate series that drag on. I need conclusion. So yay, that's done. Now read the whole series :)
I actually cried when I got the end of this book! It was filled with action, excitement and love. All our favorite characters come back for one final fight for the throne. I loved all the quotes about how powerful women are, and was especially moved by how detailed Ellison was able to be in describing Briand’s nausea during her pregnancy. I was extremely nauseous during both my pregnancies and it really brought back memories I thought I had forgotten haha! So sad to see the end of this series but thought that the author really ended well with the characters and the story.
I have been waiting for and dreading this book for a while now. I love these characters and this world, and while I didn't want it to end, I was anxious for the resolution and for everyone to get their happy ending. the author did a wonderful job of wrapping up the story, providing great action, and leaving us wanting more, all at the same time.
I adore this series so much! Kate did a great job of finishing this out with a mostly satisfying ending. I thought the pace was good and as a mother myself, I felt really connected to Briand and Nara. This series is definitely worth reading and one I'll come back to again and again.
