Grips the desk better than the mac, included ports are so-so in quality

This is a not that cheap option for a bunch of breakouts from a single port, and you don't really get what you pay for. All the ports work, but they're not great. Good for USB and VGA, and having the options of using the others, but they're not as good performers as some of my other adapters and I wouldn't want to use this as a daily driver/mission critical adapter. For example purple lines with a HDMI cable on some displays, slow ethernet and the software that runs on this seems to occasionally be a bit slow to detect or be detected. It's functional and the issues are few and far between, but yeah, it's the worst performing of my USB-C breakout adapters by a fair bit.
In terms of its key feature though, it's a fail. Clearly the idea is that it's a laptop stand that has some useful ports on it. Having tested it with most of the MacBooks in the office now, what it actually does is grip the desk very well and your MacBook very poorly, so your MacBook now moves around a lot easier, but the uneven base it's on doesn't move with it. It's pretty horrendous. Not wanting to waste it, I ended up propping up the front side of a Mac mini with it so there’s more airflow and it’s easier to plug in SUB’s, but there’s much better options for those tasks.
In essence it does work, and it does work as advertised ... just buy something else.
