Neil's voice is woefully reproduced on this recording. Go for 'Classic Diamonds' to fully appreciate the depth of his singing voice. The orchestral accompaniment is not bad too. No brainer, enough said.
This album was purchased for my husband and he loves it!!!! My only complaint was the manner in which it was shipped....we received the CD poorly packaged (not at all protected), the case to the CD was broken in multiple places. Thankfully, the damage hadn’t affected the CD. My husband loves the album, but I would not order again from the same seller.
Greatest Hits compilations are always a minefield — with this sloppy clunker being no exception. Who exactly chose these songs? Certainly no one familiar with Neil Diamond’s catalog. Why are non-hits included here - songs I have never heard before, such as “Something Blue” and “Glory Road”, “Morningside”, et al, yet true hit records that I love — “Let Me Take You In My Arms Again”, “Thank The Lord For The Nighttime” and “You Got To Me”, not to mention the Streisand "You Don't Bring me Flowers" collaboration, are LEFT OFF? In addition, the sound quality is not nearly as robust and rich as it is on the original vinyl LPs that thankfully I’ve held onto. I buy CDs rather than mp3s for the superior sound quality on my audio setup, but this set sounds no better than an mp3 download and to make things worse, quite a few cuts are in MONO. One positive note: there are no “live” concert versions included, which are always irksomely different and inferior to the original hit versions recorded in a studio. No true Neil Diamond fan would ever give this severely lacking collection five stars — it is woefully incomplete.
This would have been a great compilation of Neil Diamond hits, the problem is the sound quality on this pressing is very sub par. Actually I think it is terrible, audible hiss through out both albums. one of my albums was so warped, it barely played. This was a cheaply put together collection of hits.
