Loved that it was an absolute page turner. Loved the characters and the diverse themes throughout the book. Did not like that it came to a sudden finish and that the ending was disjointed from the beginning in some ways!
What a great read... I read a review for new books in 2021and thought I would give the author a go. Couldn't put it down ... read it in 2 days. So different to much I have read and not at all what I thought it would be. A mixture of Salem witch era and the after effects of a pandemic and the need for children. But then the novel meshes with cowboy fiction and myth with an gang that is so extraordinary... I loved it and read it in 2 days ... I shall read more of her books in future. Great writing ... Great plot ... A treat in these dark days of winter... don't miss it !
A really good read. I loved all the characters. It is set in the late 1800s and is a wonderful story about strength and resilience and overcoming obstacles in a mans world. Its heartbreaking as well as these wonderful women are cast out as witches because the couldnt conceive children and are blamed for everything that goes wrong in their towns because of it. A lovely book.
I heard about this book through a book club review and thought I'd give it a go - it was an incredible story, filled with so much detail and description. The story centres around a barren young girl and her journey from exhiled wife to outlaw in the wild West back in the 1800s. The way this story was written, long chapters, and full of description painted a perfect picture. I would have given this 5 stars, until I reached the end, almost abruptly - how the story ended was quick and disappointing.
This was my first Western book and I probably wouldn’t have picked it up if I hadn’t seen it one Reese’s book club. I really enjoyed it. It’s a fun book to escape into and it’s made me want to read more in this genre.
I absolutely loved this book. It was gripping and full of action. I loved Ava and rooted for her the whole way through. The writer so cleverly blends modern issues of gender and sexuality into the period setting of the Wild West. I would highly recommend this book.
