So what do we get here for a rather expensive bang for your buck, well a rather excellent sturdy box with superb book and a non descript poster(to be perfectly honest).
Disc 1 The original album ,remastered and it never sounded better, this album sometimes gets overlooked when discussing the top discs from 1972,this is absolutely up there, opening with the 'lost' classic track 'Wheels Of Confusion, then one brilliant track after another 'Tomorrow's Dream/Changes/Supernaut and of course the timeless classic 'Snowblind'
Disc 2 several outakes and remixes by Steven Wilson and really excellen, worth listening too. disc 3 odds and sod and more of a curio, really you wont come back to this disc much, truthfully this could have fit onto disc 2. considering disc 2 is only 27 minutes long.
disc 4 essentially and expanded, remixed, remastered version of the 'Live at Last abomination, which originally hit the shelves in 1980,a really poorly produced piece of vinyl, the re issued cd in the 90's was worse, it was slightly better as part of the 2 disc set 'Past Lives'.Well this is easily the best its ever sounded proper care taken to get it to a enjoyable, listenable standard and they have succeeded.
In all honesty you couldnt say it value for money, cos its expensive for what your getting but you aint forced to buy, i was always going to get this, just waited my moment and it dropped to just over £50.
Okay i may not be the best person to review Black Sabbath,i have basted in this band all my life and qualify as a true fan,so no need to say this deluxe version is Great,if love this album and had a weak spot for this album and love to complete your collection get it now, since their previous reissues are somewhat miserable compared to this release.I only wish they had done so with the previous three albums, but i do understand that their may not have been any extra material but they could have put some bootlegs as extra bonuses, all bands have some material audio/visual out there (look at Hendrix!!!)so best re-release but dig a little more fans will be there...Dan.
I have only listened to the first disc one this 5 lp vinyl set, but I just want to say that the remaster of Vol 4 is stunning! The separation of instruments, the depth, Ozzy's voice, Tony's guitar all sound amazing! So much more heft on all the notes. If you love this album then you will be happy with this purchase.
I have just finished all five vinyl discs on my turntable I can say without a doubt that the live album alone is worth the price. The pressing quality for all five records is outstanding. If you're a Black Sabbath fan and can swing the hefty amount of money for these records you won't be disappointed.
This was the first Black Sabbath album I bought back in the day, and has always been my favourite. This new Super Deluxe edition brings back all the glory of the original, along with a plethora of extras that make the investment so much more worthwhile. The live tracks from 1973 are amazing, and the remix is pristine and clear, adding to the listening pleasure. The book is packed full of pictures, and provides insight to the whole process of the album's genesis - a must for any fan.
The over all packaging is stunning. Very high quality. Recently purchased Pink Floyd's remaster of Delicate Sounds of Thunder box set for about the same price. Compared to this, I should have paid 20 dollars for the Floyd. On to the music. Again, stunning. The live album alone is worth the price of admission. Album 3, the out takes, is also very special. All 5 albums are brilliant and very well mastered. High dollar value here. No regrets.
Some what biased because Vol 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath are my two favorite Sabbath LP's.This is a really nice package and the LP sound is really crisp. If you have a150.00 plus dollars sitting around this is a great buy !
Me gustó mucho , sólo que extrañé que no tuviera tomas alternativas de la canción St Vitus Dance , y Tiene un pequeño error en. Los Títulos digitales de los Discos el disco dos y 3 los marca como disco 3 los dos
