I have Sarah’s previous two books, and love them. This one is so good too! I love a Christmas cookbook, and the sweet recipes here are beautiful. So good to see what American Christmas baking is like (as opposed to here in the UK). Going to try some recipes nearer Christmas. It’s a nice touch that she has also included some recipes for the cold dark months after the festive season too. Excellent book.
I wouldn’t exactly call this a holiday cookbook. It’s a fall & winter dessert cookbook, as long as you like cranberry, pumpkin, caramel, nut and citrus flavor profiles, you’ll be happy. If you’re looking for something to take to a 4th of July picnic or an Easter brunch, you’ll need to look elsewhere. It is full of great recipes, including Hot Chocolate Cake, Cruffins (but I need a popover pan), Lemon Curd, Creme Brûlée Pumpkin Pie, and Cream Cheese Cranberry Danish.
An absolutely delightful Holiday cookbook that you'll want in your kitchen year round, but especially around the holidays. This book is beautifully photographed and chock full of holiday recipes, that cover all kinds of holiday (and lets face it - EVERYDAY) delights from candy, cakes, pies, donuts, pastries, scones, cupcakes and many others!! The only downside to the book, is it ended too soon!
Lots of recipes I’d love to try! Loved the Christmas feel, though I thought there would be a few hanukkah/other winter holiday recipes as well. there are some general winter recipes that are quite fun! I also loved the gorgeous photos.
I used to love going to the Blue Herron with friends after a study session. I missed my days there. This book and the others that Sara has written, encapsulate all those fine memories. I'm excited to bring a little of the Blue Herron home to my family for the Holidays.
