HOW NOT TO DIET is a whoppingly big book with an enormous amount of information on health and diet(ing). It's essentially a metanalysis of around 5,000 peer reviewed research articles so everything in the book is evidence-based. I must admit to skimming a sizeable proportion of the book as it's a tough read to go from cover to cover. It's encyclopaedic and would make an informative book to dip in to when needed, although, the author does provide a checklist of items to implement to be healthy. It does feel a bit overwhelming, and I'm not convinced it would be easy to implement all the suggestions. And I'd guess most readers (including me) will have difficulty knowing whether the interpretations of research data provided are accurate or not. The process of writing the book, described by the author, certainly has the characteristics of a rigorous approach. I'd love a professional dietician to read and review the book but, I'd informally recommend it for anyone interested in diet and weight loss.
